TRAI’s three big announcements will benefit millions of users

Indian Telecom Regulatory Authority TRAI has announced three major announcements to benefit millions of users. This includes provision from cable TV or DTH operator portability to electronic spectrum such as 4G spectrum allocation and electronic bill for postpaid users. Actually, TRAI Chairman RS Sharma has announced this to facilitate mobile users besides cable TV and DTS operators. Let’s know about Trio’s three announcements

Set-top box portability like mobile

According to the report, just like TRAI mobile users, cable TV or DTH subscribers can also change their service providers without changing the set top box. Soon this kind of facility is in the process of introducing the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

Allocation of 4G spectrum for BSNL-MTNL

According to TRAI Chairman RS Sharma, soon the users of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) will get 4G service benefits. The Department of Telecommunication had informed TRAI only a few days ago. According to TRAI, these two telecom companies had urged the government to allocate spectrum for 4G services in exchange for equity. BSNL has sought equity investment of about Rs 7,000 crore for the ongoing competition in the telecom market.

Electronic bill facility

TRAI had clarified on Monday that they will be given electronic bills after getting telecom operators approved on behalf of their clients. However, after the provisional review of the bill for postpaid users, TRAI told that the customers will be billed free as per the existing form. If a user asks for a bill via e-mail, service providers can send them an electronic bill. For this service providers companies will have to get approval from the users.
